SKB Sails of Penryn are based in Falmouth - one of Europe's premier sailing centres
Partners David Spargo and Colin Bennett started the business 17 years ago and have built up an enviable reputation for custom made sails for local and overseas customers. They also provide covers and on deck upholstery for some of the world's super yachts.
The premises are based at a traditional 3 storey building at Penryn's Commercial Road, right next to the water and the loft area covers over 4,000 square foot which enables the company to deal with some very large sails aboard the super yachts which regularly visit Falmouth.
SKB Sails are well known for their sails aboard the Falmouth Working boats, are sail makers to Gaffers and Luggers owned by Martin Heard, a local boat builder who completed the Marie Claude, a replica of le Harve Pilot Cutter.
David and Colin have won a number of export orders against international competition sending sails to the USA, France, Holland and Canada.
Recent projects include sails for a new replica Bristol Channel pilot cutter, the Westernman, of which two have already been built in Nova Scotia.
